I’ve been designing and writing knit and crochet patterns for years. However, they were all written in various notebooks in my own version of shorthand. So they were only useful for me. When I decided to share my work, this Sheridan cable knit hat pattern went to the top of the list.
I love everything about this knit hat pattern – the cables, shape, double brim, pompom. The projects I like to make are usually fairly quick, but also stretch my skills. I feel this cable knit hat pattern does both. Originally I intended to give this knit hat to one of my sisters, but after I finished it, I decided it was one of the few projects that I would keep for myself.
However, in true crafter fashion, the hat my test knitter (thank you, Beth Bennett!!) made was specifically crafted for my co-worker and friend Margaret. While knitting the cream version, she had asked me if I could make her one in blue without a pompom. So after I finished with the photos of the sample knit hat, I gave it to Margaret. She wears it snowmobiling and loves the warmth of the wool hat. It fits well under her helmet (the reason for omitting the pompom), and it looks good when her helmet is off.
Click here to order the Sheridan cable knit hat pattern for $5.50*. I hope you’ll love making and wearing (or gifting) this cabled knit hat as much as I enjoyed designing it. Even as I design other knit and crochet patterns, I know this will continue to be one of my favorites.
Happy crafting!
